Hi Ronny,
Yes, Econa generates WebP and AVIF image variations when the server setup supports this.
Are you trying to upload a WebP image when you get that error? Can you please share the versions of Joomla/Econa?
Regards
Hi Ronny,
I made some tests and there is an issue indeed when the uploaded image format is different than the generated image format. This happens when the "Convert to JPEG" option is enabled in the "Content - Econa Article Images" plugin. I have fixed that already.
However I am not completely sure that this is the same issue you are facing. Can you provide some more information? Is that a new uploaded image or an existing one? Is this an updated site? Is there any case that the image has been uploaded in the past under Joomla 3.x installation?
Regards
This is a brand new Joomla 5.1 site. All images were downloaded from old Joomla 3 site and then converted from jpg to webp on computer. Then uploaded via ftp to new site images folder.
Actually just found out that the error also happens on jpg images ! In the plugin I have deactivated resizing (and thus conversion to jpg), so that is not the problem.
I run on PHP 8.2.19
Hi Ronny,
My first response was incorrect. Econa does generate WebP variation when is used as a custom field, not in Joomla articles images. In order to serve alternative image formats with fallback to JPEG a change in the markup is needed and there is no way to do this with a plugin.
Since you have created and uploaded the WebP variations manually I recommend to skip the JPEG versions and serve those images directly. All major browsers support WebP today! So just selecting the WebP image in Joomla backed should be fine.
Regarding the actual issue, when you try to edit an image I just sent you through email the development version of Econa. It will solve the issue and you should be able to edit your images again. If that's not the case, please let me know.
Finally note that Econa v2 stores articles images in a different way.
Uploads go to /images/econa-article-images/11/intro/
and resized variations go to /images/econa-article-images/11/intro/400
11 is the article ID and 400 is the image width in the above example.
Please let me know if that helps.
Regards
The development version did not fix the problem...
Any news here ???
Hi Ronny,
I just uploaded a new fix version on your site. It should work now, if not please let me know.
Remember to clean browser cache before trying again since there is a change in a javascript file.
