When cropping images on a website we use Econa on (as a custom field) we noticed that sometimes the image gets a black line on one side. Maybe this only happens when the user uses the selection frame ( 3/4 ratio in our case) to span the whole width of the original uploaded image. When you crop it a little bit it seems to work better. I am not 100% sure about this. But it does sometimes produce a small (1px) black line on the side of an image.
I think this might be cause by calculating the width/height (aspect ratio ) of the image when it is cropped. But again, maybe not ;-)
