I have a slider as part of my Joomlart template which is linked to a K2 article, but when I click the URL i get the 404 error page. Also, how can we get rid of the index.php portion of a url?

Hi,

If the slider is using the standard Joomla way for creating the links everything should work fine. Is there a link to your site?
The index.php part in the URLs can be removed in Joomla global configuration by enabling URL rewrites. Note that this is not a functionality of Route 66. It's a Joomla functionality and requires some server tweaking.
Here is the official Joomla documentation regarding URL rewrites https://docs.joomla.org/Enabling_Search_Engine_Friendly_(SEF)_URLs .

Www.getuslocal.com/clents/gentleblessing/fix is the url. I have it disabled right now but when on the slide is linked to a K2 article and the trailing slash of the index.php/item is what is missing. I will enable it in a few hours once I start me day.

I will check your link again tomorrow since I don't see a slideshow now.

www.getuslocal.com/clients/gentleblessing/fix . Sorry I had aa typo in the URL

When I click on the article nothing happens. The screen just refreshes back to the home page . even though the url updates.

Since the URL updates, it means that you are navigated to a new page. Probably something is wrong with the module assignments. Can you please disable Route 66 and check if it works. Because this seems more like a site setup issue.
If everything works fine when you disable Route 66 please create a new private ticket including administrator credentials so I can have a look.

What do you mean about a site setup issue?

Lefteris Kavadas
I mean a template issue. Take a look:

https://www.getuslocal.com/clients/gentleblessing/fix/index.php/39-content-pages/107-become-a-newborn-care-specialist?template=protostar

Rendering with the default template seems to work fine. So, probably there is either an issue in your template not displaying the template output or you have some modules assigned to all pages making every page look the same.
