I would like to set up a (stand alone) slider module. But with my configuration neither an error message nor something is displayed. Are there any instructions how to configure the module?

Here are the steps you need to take:
1. Create and publish at least one gallery.
2. Publish the Showtime Image Gallery module.
If you are not familiar with Joomla modules you might need to check the official Joomla documentation at https://docs.joomla.org/Module.
