Hi! I would like to use the images in a Showtime gallery as a 'slider' on the website. I have use jQuery Cycle2 in the past for creating sliders of images. Is it possible to create a template override so I can use the images in Showtime to add to a slider using Cycle2?

I think I would just need a way to load the 'popup' images into a view. And no thumbnails.

We use the content plugin to show the images in an article so we need to override the content plugin?

Hi Jip,

Yes, of course, you can simply create an override for the layout your gallery is using.
You can even create a complete new layout, not just an override.
There is no need to override the content plugin. Just select the correct layout in the gallery options.

You can create layout overrides as explained at the documentation: https://www.firecoders.com/documentation/showtime-image-gallery#layouts

Before doing that, you may want to try the "Slideshow" layout that Showtime Image Gallery provides. It is based on the Slick carousel and it comes with responsive options.

Please let me know if you need more help.

Hi Lefteris! Thanks for getting back to me on this. I will also check the 'slideshow' layout. Thanks for that suggestion.

I do have another question: is there a way to use just one (maybe the first) image of the gallery as a thumbnail that users can click to open the slideshow (like 'lighgallery') and hide all other thumbnails?

So you would only see one image (thumbnail) but when you click on nit the opened (popup) slideshow does include all the images of the gallery?

Hi Jip,

There is no option for that but you can do this easily with a bit of CSS. If you have a link I can help you with this.

Hi Lefteris, we decided (for the site we are working on) to create a custom layout for our gallery (content plugin) using the swiper.js library.

You can see it in action here:

When we want one thumbnail and aa full pop-up gallery I guess we could just hide all other thumbnails except the first one using CSS. That's what you are suggesting right? That would work! Thanks.

Hi Jip,

Very nice implementation!
Yes, that's what I am suggesting. You still need to have the images in the page markup so the lightbox keeps working. Hiding them using CSS is the only option.
If you need help with code please let me know.
