Hi Lefteridis,
since all uploaded images are permanently saved on the webserver for future needs, my Akeeba backup sizes grow rapidly. It would be good, if there would be an option to prevent saving the originals or to be able to delete them easily from time to time.

Hi,

We will work on a solution for this problem.

Does Akeeba backup have an option for excluding files/directories?

Hi,
yes, Akeeba does have an option to exclude directories and files. Since there is no option to set wildcard directories such as /media/showtime/storage/*/*/*/*/source I would have to exclude all images from the backup.

This IS an option, however, I would be good to be able to delete the source files every now and then ...

Just did a small research and found out that Akeeba supports regular expressions for files/folders exclusions. Here is the link to the documentation: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/regex-files-directories-exclusion.html .

It's not hard for us to add a button to clear the original images. Our concern is that some users might not understand what they are doing. If the original images are deleted there is no way to change the image dimensions of an existing gallery.
So we need to think a way so only advanced users will make use of this feature.
